Reflections

As I was driving home this afternoon, it dawned on me - the perfect word to describe 2010.

Unraveled.

It's not particularly fancy. Actually, it's rather utilitarian.

Nevertheless, I think it suits the year I've had. If you've ever crocheted or knitted, you know the aggravation or dismay when you discover an error in your stitch pattern that requires unraveling hours of work to fix it.

Or, if you own a sweater ... well, you know.

Anyway, as I reflect on 2010, my world frequently unraveled. It seems I couldn't get caught up on much of anything. (Forget the idea of getting ahead; that's just crazy talk at this point.)

Tracking the household budget. Keeping my house clean and somewhat organized. Reading for pleasure. Finding the balance with home and work and teaching. Just being me.

I fell off numerous proverbial "wagons," too. Nutrition. Fitness. Blogging. And, plenty of other essential elements in my life.

So, now, I contemplate: How do I redirect my focus (notice I didn't say "change") to make 2011 better?

Well, that answer is yet to be revealed. But, as has become tradition, I will unveil my resolutions in the coming days.

And, it's your job to help hold me accountable.

In the meantime, what's one of your resolutions?

To slow down, taking a breath now and then.

And to make a trip to Hot Springs.

Why can't we take a few lessons from our "furbabies"?
